Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan on Thursday strongly criticised the Union government’s recent amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) Rules, demanding their immediate withdrawal.
In a statement on Thursday, Satheesan alleged that these unilateral changes are part of a targeted effort to suppress minorities and cripple the functioning of voluntary organisations nationwide.

He said the Center’s new amendment completely sidelines voluntary organizations long active in educational and social work across North and North-Eastern tribal areas. This allows the government to easily ban any organization at the request of Sangh Parivar groups.
He asked whether the FCRA amendment is another step in the Sangh Parivar’s nationwide campaign against minorities.
The Chief Minister demanded the immediate withdrawal of the amendment, calling it a “black law” that targets minority communities. Echoing this urgency, VD Satheesan stated that Kerala’s BJP leadership and Union Ministers from Kerala must clarify their stance on an issue that threatens the nation’s democratic framework.
